All the rumors began when Shakira at 2011 and 2012, during several interviews had shown her excitement to have the "World Cup 2014" in South America and especially in Brazil, a country which is very prepared to handle an event of this magnitude.
In late 2012, the Colombian singer confirmed to FIFA.com that she would be present for the 2014 World Cup to support her boyfriend Gerard Pique in case the Spanish Team classified on this, and also waiting to see her country´s soccer team (Colombia) in the same event.
In mid-2013, after finishing "The Voice" in the United States, Shakira traveled to Brazil (with her baby boy Milan) with the excuse to witness the Confederations Cup where her boyfriend Pique was playing with the Spain team. However, the singer was seen a couple of times with the Brazilian producer Carlinhos Brown, which increased rumors of the possible involvement of the 2014 World Cup. After that Shakira was seen in Rio de Janeiro (Brazilian City) meeting with FIFA president Joseph Blatter.
Finally the rumors were confirmed when the Arab singer Mohammed Assaf, winner of the musical contest "Arab Idol" said on Twitter that he would sing at the inaugural World Cup with Shakira. The Palestinian president also showed his enthusiasm saying that after long discussions, the Arab singer Mohammed would be submitted along with other major music stars including Shakira.
Shakira has not yet commented about this, but after the statements already given by FIFA, President of Palestinian and Arab singer, is confirmed that the Colombian HitMaker will appear for the third time in a World Cup, this time to 2014 in Brazil.
